Christmas Eve and the $5 Game

So there is this game that is played on Christmas Eve that is called the $5 Game. Basically we get a bunch of $5 gifts and then put them in a pile pole the table...we each roll a set of dice and when you get a double, you pick a gift from the pile....once all the gifts are gone, you then play a time based round where when you get a double, you can steal a gift from someone else...this goes on until time runs out. We all went a little overboard this year and got a lot of $5 gifts for the game...it's kind of like modified stocking stuffers.

Merry Christmas Biznatches

Back online in a week...

Revenge of the donut

Some recent belly shots as I know I am getting bigger, but wanted to document the progress a bit...

Below, sans sweater... Those are still my regular clothes that I am wearing...at some point I will have to give up the goose and transition to maternity clothes. Just the thought of having to go shopping for more clothes is not one of my favorite activities. Although I will need to buy some shirts soon as they are not quite long enough in the front anymore and instead hike up in the front exposing my expanded muffin top.

Countdown to Christmas

It's so close I can almost taste it....
We're taking the entire week off next week and heading to Palm Springs (read = WARM) for the week and then Los Angeles for the weekend to hang at my sister in law's...
Tomorrow is hump day....one day closer

Miss Donut

The second set of picture of our little donut. Since we are about 18 weeks into this journey, we had our second trimester ultrasound where they do all kinds of measuring and checking to make sure she's developing properly. We also learned that we are having a little girl. She was quite active too...rolling around and kicking the entire time.

I asked about the head size because large craniums run in the Kang side of the family...mine is large but with wide and flat dimensions. Forrest's head is large but in a narrow but deep sort of dimension. Combined I was worried that we'd end up with a gigantic beach ball head that I would need to squeeze out in May. Upon review, the technician said "it's more deep...like a football." Well we now know she has her father's cranium.

Five more months to go!

"Dude I have been passing out everywhere"

Chester came over on Friday to bring over some software for me... He has officially given up om being my personal tech support and has handed over the reins to Forrest who has grudgingly accepted...
Chester was telling us about how he has been passing out all over the place because he is now a total lightweight when it comes to drinking. We were all just chatting and hangin out, when just like that Chester passed out on the couch as promised.

Turkey Trot @ Sac State

On Thanksgiving morning, we headed out to Sacramento State for the annual Turkey Trot 5K. For some crazy reason, I thought I could swing the 10K....but after completing the 5K, I knew there was no hope for me to do the 10K. I've been trying to work out consistently while prego to keep the extra pounds at bay...and even still running, albeit at a slower pace and for shorter periods than before but damnit I am still running and that's all that matters. But it must have been a combination of lack of sleep + running at my old pace that caused me to poop out like I did after the trot.

Afterwards I pretty much felt like shit for the rest of the day then was unable to sleep that night and was a zombie all day Friday. Gotta love it!

Pregnant = Brain not working

Shit. It looks like I got in a fight, or am prepping for a boxing match the way I am all taped up. But what really happened is that I was slicing some onions and had my hand on top of the onion half, you know, to hold it still. Well...that sharp ass knife went right through (parallel to the counter) and to my hand...breaking the skin. In my head I say "ouch! that hurts!" but my right hand keeps sawing away at the onion and my hand. Somewhere in this hormone ridden body of mine there was a brain misfire. GEEZ

Annual Kang Tailgate Bonanza

Hiroko wake up! HAHAHAHAHA As this was an event the day after Hiroko and Andy's joint birthday party, we had a few attendees that were a bit hungover. At one point in the game, Hiroko put her head on Sal's shoulder for a quick "nap." Game was good..the Niners put up a good fight and was a close game that was fun to watch. In the end, the Niners won which was surprisingly in an of itself...

I think the saddest thing about this game was my inability to flag down the churro vendor for the majority of the game.

Why do we always look so dorky for the game photos?

Sam being Sam.... As he had turned bright red within minutes of his first beer, we kept harassing him with "hey, how's your sunburn?"

Big beefy patties awaiting the grill. This year we had about 15 people at the tailgate which was WAY more manageable than in years past. We only had two coolers...one for food and one for booze...craziness. The vibe was much more mellow and more my speed given how I am about 5 paces behind everyone else these days, being knocked up and all.

Again, Sam being Sam....he is such a ham it is insane. Chester used to call me a camera whore, but really compared to Sam I don't even qualify to be an amatuer.

Damnit... I am such a sucker

I just bought this the other day...even though I have a perfectly good ipod at home already. A bigger 30 GB video ipod no less. But my "stuff white people like" shame led me to the new shiny colorful nano. And now, as if the shame has no end...I am crusing the Apple website looking for accessories for my new fangle dangle ipod. help..please..ahhhh

But isn't is sooo cute? the screen is pretty awesome too.

Thanksgiving in Sacramento

Pic of the in law side of the family on Friday night a night out. I totally forgot to get a picture from Thursday night when my parents were there as well..doh! This year was supposed to be hosted at our house...but well, we didn't get the house so we moved the whole party up to my in laws in Sacramento. My parents and Same came up for the feasting as well :)

My sister in law is also pregnant...due 3 months before I am :) There is a grandchild windfall for my in laws this year. After an 8 year drought since the last grandchild, they are getting 2 within months of each other. Spring 2009 is going tp be a busy time of the year.

My mother in law has more pics, but there are ones of Ann and myself comparing bellies. Since we'll be seeing her in December for Christmas and then again in January for her baby shower, these progressive pictures are going to be lots of fun.

Morrocan Miracle Oil

This stuff is the shiz. It makes your hair soft and shiny without being greasy and it smells nice. As a fluffy haired, curly individual...I am always on the lookout for products that make it easier to style straight while also making it super duper soft for curly days. The shiz was expensive though...$40 a bottle but so far it has been amazing and if I can get down to 1-2 products versus 5-6, that would be fantastic!

I bought if at the salon I go to in Campbell, CA, but I'm sure you can get it at other places too... I just haven't seen it up in the city yet.

Visit the website here for more info....

Being pregnant is hard

Holy crap...this is no joke, being pregnant is hard. I had no idea that it would be this uncomfortable or tiring...and I'm only 14 weeks along. Don't get me wrong, Forrest and I are super duper excited about expanding our family to be a total unit of 3, 4 or 5...we haven't decided on the final number yet. But the process of adding that kid is a long and painful one.

People don't usually talk about how bad the morning sickness really can be...and I guess you can't quite understand until you go through it. And the fatigue is so amazingly strong that I have passed out at my desk in the middle of typing an email...hilarious. The "baby brain" is awesome too...when all critical thinking, problem solving, decision making skills and memory go out the window. There are times when I walk into a room and then cannot remember why I am there. Not being able to decide what to eat...that's challenging as well...since I am so hungry. The physical changes are the most dramatic. I am about 50% weaker than I used to be and so I can barely lift a bag of groceries out of the car. Couple that with the fatigue, nausea and the forgetfulness and well, basically I shouldn't be let out of the house unsupervised.

It doesn't help that I am the most impatient person on the planet. And instead of being emotional and erratic, I am less emotional than before (if that is possible) and less social. I am keenly aware as to how "cold" I must seem to people when talking about my pregnancy. It's not that I don't love our donut...I am just not retardedly giddy about it every second. I dunno...my impatient self is just too busy researching day care and pre schools. And to be honest, other people's enthusiam is starting to freak me out...not from those close to me, but acquaintances at work and stuff - those people are freaking me out. Like....just because we sit 2 cubes down from each other doesn't make us BFFs for us to gab on and on about 1. being pregnant and 2. for you to give me loads of unsolicited advice or judgement on whatever I am doing. It's wierd...all these random people wanting to hug and touch...eeek. I hug my friends and stuff but I'm not the most touchy person so having random people do that freaks me out.

OMG being pregnant is turning me into a loner wierdo....lol....
As if having my butt grow and start eating my pants wasn't enough :)

Visit from the parents...unseasonably warm city weather

Forrest's parents were in town this weekend to celebrate dad's 69th birthday with us. And the weather...the weather was insanely amazing! It was almost too hot to be cruising around outside....lol. Without a game plan for the day we basically hit up the farmer's market for breakfast then drove over to the Legion of Honor then took naps and went to dinner.

Annual Get Together

Once a year we remember to have a party. It's usually towards the end of the year and then we're scrambling to find a weekend that is not knee deep into the holidays so we can actually see people. One of these days we will move to a larger place so we can comfortably fit all the people in our home.
