Countdown to sushi

29 weeks...that means only 11 more to go and then I can eat sushi again....

Latest addition to the family....

It's Lincoln Ashby! Ann and Scott went into labor on Tuesday of this week and by 5pm we had a new nephew in the family! He arrived into this world weighing in at 7 pounds, 13 ounces and 21 inches long. YAY!!!
He is a cutie...and strangely doesn't really look very newborn-ish...

3D pics of Donut

Top down view of Donut's head... I had specifically asked the question "is our baby's head big?" because large domes tend to run in the Kang family and I wanted to be ready if I had to birth a basketball. The report back was that it is not so much big as it is deep...more like a football shape...kind of like Forrest's head...should be easier to squeeze out than a wide head.

Below are some facial 3D pictures of Donut. The quality is a little fuzzy since I had to take screen captures of the video to post onto the blog but you get the general idea... These were taken a few weeks ago (last weekend in Jan) so Donut hadn't really put on weight yet. I think she looks just like Forrest but so far it's just me.

Keryun's Bridal Shower

Today was Keryun's bridal shower at the Fairmont SF...it was an afternoon tea complete with tea sandwiches. It was nice to see a lot of familiar SCU faces amongst the crowd - I am very excited for her wedding as it is always great to see two people happy once they find each other.

The last trimester

So we're officially in the third trimester....meaning the end is near and in only mere months I should be able to see my feet again...or lean over to pick something up off the floor without getting stuck and a whole slew of other things.

The stroller we ordered finally came in the mail the other day and I implored Forrest to put it together the other night so I could play with it...hehehehehehehehehe...it is a bit bland just being tan and gray, but knowing we will have more kids I didn't want to get a pink one and end up having a boy for our second child or something...this was the neutral decision.
Forrest originally wanted the Orbit Baby and I kind of always wanted the Bugaboo....after much deliberation and testing of strollers and weighing in the hand me down car seats....we went Bugaboo...YAY

Just another view of the quilt and crib bumper that I made for Donut last weekend. I don't think I had originally taken a photo of the crib bumper... It is the printed fabric on one side and on the other side it is primarily white with the occasional color block of pink, yellow or green.

Movie Review: He's Just not that into You

Went to check out this movie on Sunday afternoon with Linh and Kristin. The three of us enjoyed it...but for those who read the book, don't expect the book.

Weekend project :)

Thank Jeebus for three day weekends! This weekend was President's Day so that meant the office was closed on Monday - WOOT WOOT. So with that extra day at home, we putzed around and got a few home organization projects out of the way... I also got to start work on the Donut's room.

It was really important to me to make something for the baby....so I decided on the quilt and crib bumper. After conferring with the hubbs, I went out and picked up some plain fabric in bright green, yellow and pink...then looked for a print that all those colors as well. The best part is with our "donut theme" I was even able to find a print that had circles and rings on it.

Three more months to go....

Last run...to DD

Picture of my bounty...picked up at the NJ airport to take back with me. I always forget to bring the big gallon ziploc bags when I go to the east coast, but what I really want is to just bring back a shitload of these things. The best were the "munchkins" or donut holes. The ones in the front are actually jelly filled donut holes - MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Walking Tour of NYC part 2

Mid day Saturday after lunch we headed down to Greenwich Village then back to the hotel. When we got off the subway we decided to take a stroll through Grand Central Terminal to check it out...it really is a beautiful place.... the ceiling had this lovely celestial painting on it which was apparently recently cleaned.

A view into the Magnolia's bakery window where their many bakery "elves" were busy frosting cupcakes... In honor of my recent trip, I decided to make a batch of these cupcakes at home and even tried to mimic their trademark frosting...you'll have to check out AlmostChef to see...

Progressive Dinners in the Lower East Side...

After seeing pictures of the shanghai dumplings on Chesternet from his recent visit to see Ariane, I HAD to sample the dumplings while we were out there so Sat night we decided on a progressive dinner where we have some grub in Chinatown..

The dumplings were GOOD....

Forrest hates it when people take pictures of him in restaurants...but I couldn't stand not taking pictures in the disco chinese restaurant.
...then over to Little Italy / East Village area to get some pizza at a place called L'Asso for some brick oven fired pizza. Shit was GOOD....

Babies...of the human and goat variety

Above is a picture of baby Henry, Stephanie and Elliott's boy who is about 8 months old at this time. Henry and I both share the same birthday, albeit 31 years apart. He is just a love and soooo adorable. Saturday afternoon we had lunch with Stephanie, Elliott and Ariane at Blue Smoke (a fabu barbeque place) in the Murray Hill neighborhood...

While crusing around town, we ran through the Union Square farmer's market and got to see these baby goats in a cage near the entrance....

Breezy Building Tops

From the top of the Empire State Building.... Saturday morning we got up butt ass early, had breakfast at the hotel and then were up at the top of of the city by 9am...and it was mighty chilly up there too.

NYC Dinner: Mesa Grill

I have never been the biggest Bobby Flay fan....but when we were in NYC we decided to hit up Mesa Grill, his first NY restaurant and were very pleasantly surprised...in fact the meal was FABULOUS!. Above is a picture of my appetizer...cornmeal fried oysters with green curry and salmon roe - YUMMO!!!! I inhaled my entree of mahi mahi.... and for dessert we got a pistachio tres leches cake with pistachio brittle and cherry sorbet. The sour chrry sorbet was - oh my gawd so gooooood.

Modern or Natural History?

Pic above is from the Natural History museum...we only hung out in the lobby for a bit to consider our options...but ultimately decided not to go in. After going to the Field Museum who had the largest and most complete Tyrannasaurs skeleton AND Lucy...what can compete?

That's a pic of me holding....a.....Banana Case - from the MOMA gift store. I mean, really? How many of us REALLY need to think about keeping our banana in a plastic case to keep in from browining while we're on the go???

Hanging with the Gugg..

Forrest hates taking pictures as you can so obviously discern from the one above. After a few days in NJ for work, I headed up to NYC for the weekend and had the hubbs take the red eye out to spend the weekend with me.

He arrived early on Friday AM we headed out to breakfast, then over to the MOMA...the natural history museum (although we didn't hang out)...lunch at the Shake Shack...the Guggenheim and then back to the hotel for a nap. We were pretty pooped by the time we were finishing up at the Gugg...but I was glad to have gone as it's a pretty cool looking space, albeit the art was a little much for me.

Dunkin Donuts #1

From New Brunswick NJ...just a plain glazed...soooooo gooood

Holy hell it's cold in Jersey

Probably my last business trip on a plan for awhile...but I am SOOO lucky because I got to go to New Jersey in the dead of winter....say it with me...YAY!!!!! It also started snowing the day I arrived and was in the teens - 20's during my entire stay...YAY

Here are some pics below from my hotel...that's the AM view of all the snow that fell. It was so cold that it hurt to breathe in as the hairs in my nostrils practically froze..heh.

OH - it was my first time driving in the snow too... thankfully NJ knows what to do when it snows so all the roads were de-iced, free and clear for me to commute back and forth from the partner company...
