well, it used to fit...

Tea for two in J-town

Molly and I were in Japantown Peace Plaza Mall....and walked into this super cute little place for tea. The place was totally not like anything else in Jtown at all...it managed to have a very individual personality.

View from the top of the city...

Maternity leave has been a bit lonely for me. Most of my college friends don't have kids yet and the friends I do have with kids are all scattered in the peninsula and south bay making visits much more difficult when one is deprived of sleep and would rather not drive. So, I have been joining mommy and play groups like a madwoman to make some new mom friends and well I'm not sure how well it is really going. I think my eagerness to meet new people in a similar phase of life may be coming off as desperation....so now I am TOTALLY self concious about it.

The picture above is from Alta Vista Park where I met a local mom from the Korean mommys group that I recently joined. I can't believe I've never been to that park because the view from there is freaking AMAZING! It helps that it was a sunny day too....

Today I went to a babysitting co-op meeting for moms in the Presidio/Pac Heights/Marina neighborhoods and literally everyone else seemed to already know each other...it's kind of intimidating that way. The same thing happened when I went to a neighborhood playgroup when Donut was 6 weeks old...everyone already seemed to know each other from this or that thing...really? It is a bit awkward to join a convo when people are spending time catching up with each other, ya know?

Oh well, I'll just keep on trying...

Countdown to CIM

So I'm gonna do it...or at least try to do it...well let me put it this way, I am going to train for it and then see what happens.

Date: Sunday December 6th
Location: Sacramento, CA

My 17 week beginner training plan starts the second week of August. Right now I am working on just getting back into running so I can build a base of being able to easily run about an hour (not worried about pace at this time). Today I ran 30 minutes and my weekend run will be 35 minutes and 40 minutes the week after...

So far so good. It feels good to be out there again sweating.

Where does this vanity come from?

So Donut apparently LOVES to flirt with herself in the mirror. Some day soon she will realize that it is not another baby that she is looking at and that she has been trying to flirt with herself all this time...lol. Where does all this self love come from?

Movie Review: The Hangover

2 words....Fucking Hilarious!
Sunday night Forrest and I got a much needed date night (uncle Sam babysat) and we headed out to the movies to watch the Hangover. (this after a scheduling mishap the weekend before leaving us much more anxious to see this movie) And lemme tell you, it was well worth the wait and the movie doesn't waste any time in getting to the goods. PLUS it was 90 minutes...more movies need to be this short/long as I am tired of 2+ hour movies that spend a lot of time on useless information or drag out the storyline.
The story was ridiculous but so hilariously executed that it was great to watch and NO...that's not what really happens in Vegas. People only WISH that was what really happens in Vegas in a single visit. Some of that stuff can happen to one set of people but that's about it.
If you go watch this movie you MUST MUST MUST stay through the credits....
We're now going to get a list of "movies we want to see" together and just pre-schedule babysitters so we can have these date nights.

Excuse me sir, there seems to be a Yeti in the pipes

I know the picture is gross but I don't care. So I'm apparently going bald. When you're prego, you stop losing your hair...hence all the women talk about how awesomely thick and shiny their hair was while prego...then about 3 months or so after you give birth, the shit just starts falling out in chunks. It's all the hair you didn't lose in the last 9 months falling out at record pace. Now it's like I am removing small furry animals from the shower drain everyday.
Like I said, gross.

The business of babies

means you never leave the house again! HAHAHAHAHAHA - just kidding. Donut has been a really good baby....but

sleep deprivation is kind of nutty. she just slept through the night last night and i cannot believe how amazingly wonderful i feel today after 8 hours of sleep. i never knew how great sleep was until i wasn't getting any

there is so much shit to buy. i swear the baby industry must be a billion times bigger than the wedding industry. we are trying to not too many things but then i feel guilty i'm not giving Donut enough interaction/stimulation so she'll be a grade school drop out. ahhhhh!!!!

the weight and stretchy belly skin...need i say more?

going back to work. the start date is looming in the horizon. i am excited and terrified all at the same time. i'm not sure how it is going to be...what to do.

Back to running, sort of...

While in Sea Ranch, I decided to get back into running (or well, really slow jogging...) because if I am going to run CIM in December, I better get my butt back in shape now!

So it all started with a 20 minute jog on Saturday...and on Sunday and Monday. I am not going by mileage yet since my mile time is horrendous, but I am going by total time so I can build up my endurance. (for those dying to know...it took me 20 minutes to run about 1.5 miles)

So one week of 20 minute runs, then the following week it will be 20 - 20 - 25...then 25 - 25- 25 and 25 - 25 - 30...all the way up until I can run for 60 minutes straight. Then I'll switch things up a bit so the mid week workouts will focus on my getting a bit faster so I can regain my 10 minute milke before pushing on the distance again.

Almost tossed my cookies.

Notice the lack of guard rail along the side....wheeeeeeee...this road is so windy, but this was the first time I ever noticed and felt the windiness...I almost lost my lunch

Ahhhhhhh - the sound of relaxation. Or maybe it's more like "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" Yeah that's right. I got loads of sleeping in this weekend and it was AWESOME! We did bring the baby with us and I even breast fed her exclusively this weekend (no bottles) and I still got more sleep than usual..why you say? It's because that's all I did..eat, sleep, eat, sleep. There's something to be said for leaving all the chores at home.

I miss Sea Ranch already and cannot wait to go back! The best thing about the place is that there is literally nothing to do there. So you have to relax. Cell phones don't work, there's no where to go do stuff...it's great. And with it being our second wedding anniversary, it was nice to get outta town (just the three of us) to celebrate our little family.

BTW - this three blog living is kind of hard.... I mean, I don't want complain since I am the one that started this mess but it ain't so easy.

Why yes...I did get dressed in the dark

Wednesday I went to my parents' casa in the south bay and while sitting on the couch I happened to look down....and noticed I was wearing two different socks - hahahahahahaha

I have always heard stories like this from other new mommies but didn't quite believe it until I saw it with my very own eyes.

Two years of wedded bliss!

We're off to Sea Ranch today for a 4 day weekend to celebrate our second wedding anniversary complete with new baby!

1. I can't believe it's been two years already.
2. Wow a lot has happened in two years!
3. Why is this the first time we've been back to Sea Ranch since we've been married

Anyhoos....I am excited for the change in scenery and for Forrest to have a couple of days off to hang with me and Donut. Looking forward to some R&R
