After the elections last year, I was ashamed that California voted to ban gay marriage. Honestly, what's to prevent two consenting adults from doing whatever it is they please? And beyond that - a loving family is a loving family no matter who that is comprised of. And for all the fundamental Christians out there, I respect your beliefs but they are yours not everyone else's. Separation of church and state is there for a reason. My own opinion is that any union between two entities in the eyes of the law (fed/state/local) is a civil union and is basically a business contract indicating that these "n" number of entities are a full partnership, sole prioprietorship or limited liability corporation. Anything spiritual rituals can be provided by your respective reigious organization - really.
So saying that any consenting adult can do whatever opens the incest and polygamy can of worms. And I guess if they are all adults in the eyes of the law, they so be it. Who am I to judge? Just because they can't get legally married today doesn't mean people aren't all ready living their lives this way.
And if all else fails, think of the fiscal responsibility gay marriage can provide. The wedding industry is already a multi BILLION - that's right billion dollar industry and imagine adding another 25% of the population. We are in a recession and maybe embracing the fiscal joy of letting people celebrate their life choices
