Boston Park Plaza
So this place is historic because it's the oldest hotel in boston? Well, I think it's maybe the oldest mattress in boston! HA! Take that. My local Bostonian friends "oohed and ahhed" at my being holed up in the Park Plaza. I have to admit...not that impressed. The lobby is beautiful - but I think all the renovation $$ went to that as you can see my strangely stained courduroy carpet leaves much to be desired.
But alas, I am not complaining...because believe you me, this is many HUGE steps up from the variety of roach motels that I had to frequent on business trips at my last company.
Tiny Tiles
I love tiny tiles, especially the hexagonal ones...if you stare at them long enough it makes you a little dizzy. The only real downside is that there's lots of grout and well, this style of tilework is not really en vogue right now (like most of my wardrobe) so it you break a few tiles..you're hosed. I also forgot to point out that the tiny tiles resided in a tiny fucking bathroom.

Bare Naked Ladies
OMG! I'm almost on stage
Here's Lauren, my coworker, strummin the guitar of one of the BnL guys. After nearly being decapitated by an errant frisbee toss from the other lead singer, the least they could have done is offered her their first born but instead she got to strum the guitar during the last song. Looks like she's having a good time though.
Uniballer
One big ball to sit on...many big balls on stage. At the party they had a bunch of these really big blown up balloons that were reminiscent of beach balls. It was pretty funny as the audience was periodically punching these balls into the air, the band would randomly kick or hit the balls back at us. And yours "uncoordinated" truly tried to jump and punch a ball, only to make no contact and have everyone in my section look and laugh....go figure.

Contraband Peeps
I get into Boston and am on the phone with Forrest...and his cryptic instructions lead me to open an outer pocket of my suitcase...what do I find there? None other than a pack of marshmallow peeps. MMMMMMM! They were wrapped and then in a ziploc baggie...heh. I literally ate them all in one sitting.
Seafood Count
I wonder how much I can eat tonight :)
UPDATE: I forgot about the lobster roll...yummy goodness...when they say "knuckle meat" they mean 6 claws...yeah buddy
Also got another bowl of clam chowder and raw oysters at a seconary trip to Legal Sea Foods. They serve calamari "Rhode Island Style" which equals = fucking awesome. You've all heard of Gordon Biersch's garlic fries... Rhode Island style is basically calamari fried then tossed in garlic and sliced pickled peppers...MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Spandex and Lycra, Oh my!
It's a very snug fit...enough to feel like ground meat stuffed into a sausage casing....
My vote...

2 wheelin to work
I don't know if you can see that...but that'a a 10 mile route from roughly Apple Computer headquarters to my office in Palo Alto. I watned to try cycling to work...but in the interest of my own fear, I started with 1/2 the route first. I'm also cycling with Hiroko after work so I didn't want to burn myself out. Especially since I did a hard bike ride yesterday during lunch. 30 miles today sounded easier than 40 miles today.
Who knows.
It was a pretty easy ride, except it was f-ing cold at 6:00 am and well, I wasn't composed enough in the morning to look for my arm warmers and cold out gloves.

Hole in the ground bathroom
what's that? you say junk in the trunk? haha..i beg to differ. Forrest in spandex..heeheehee. Unlike the rest of us, he doesn't need a spandex skirt to hide a tank ass. See that little brown building in the background? That would be the bathroom...with a faux toilet that sits over a hole in the ground...say it with me "GROSS"

2 wheels or 4 sir?
Palo Alto Bicycles, in cooperation with the City of Palo Alto and Caltrain, operates Northern California's first bicycle commuter station. The project is funded by the City of Palo Alto and a grant from the Bay Area Air Quality Management.
The old baggage building at the depot has been converted into a staffed bicycle parking facility for bicycle commuters. It works like a coat check: you can leave your bike while you commute on the train or bus or while visiting Palo Alto. There is no charge for bicycle parking. The facility is open weekdays from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and on weekends from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
In addition to the parking facility there is a mechanic on duty to perform repairs and adjustments. Palo Alto Bicycles also operates a retail store at the depot where commuters can purchase ride necessities such as tubes, patch kits, reflective wear, lights, and a variety of other bicycle accessories.
It is easy to get off the train and rent a mountain or road bicycle. Then you can travel around the city or tour the surrounding miles of popular roads and trails.

Happy Birthday Sam
Michelle smiled so hard she ended up with a kink in her neck. And how Sam AND Francis are making the same facial expression, I'll never know. For Sam's 23rd birthday he decided he wanted his "Kangfest" at the Giants game again. Sometimes the sequel doesn't work out so well as the first chapter...for instance, this year there was a 2 hour rain delay, freakin cold and the group was a little scattered.
Dinner at Rubicon
Lookie here! it's kermit the frog. This was a little surprise course at Rubicon...frog's legs. It really does taste like chicken. A business colleague's brother in law has taken the helm of the vintage ship...Cesar is the new sommelier at Rubicon now that Larry Stone has retired. Funny guy - great food - great wine :)
Clam 2 ways
Razor clams and geoducks served on sliced cucumbers with a citrusy sauce of some sort. Super yum yum. It was chopped up, mixed together and served in razor clam shell. I had never seen a razor clam before and didn't know what it was, but once the plate arrive...AHA! I understood why it was called a razor clam. Thank you Captain Obvious.

Darkness
You know what? Fuck your couch. HAHA! Friday night Forrest, Hiroko, Adam, Tony (Adam's friend) and I all went to the 8pm show of Charlie Murphy at Cobb's Comedy Club. Forrest was a little curious as to how funny Charlie Murphy would be on his own...outside of the Dave Chappelle show...a concern that I did share - I mean we only know him as a Chappelle character. But alas, he did not dissappoint and he's a great storyteller.
Who knew that there were things like ball collapse, ball re-fill??
The asian guy who opened up for him was f-ing hilarious too. He wants to have is own "block party" like Dave Chappelle but what cool asians could he invite? Michelle Kwan? The skinny f-er that eats hot dogs? maybe William Hung? haha.
